Edit PDF Metadata: Title, Author, Keywords
View and edit the metadata of a PDF (title, author, subject, keywords, creator and producer) or remove it all before you share the file. In your browser.
What it does
Besides the pages, a PDF stores information about itself: the title shown in the browser tab and in search results, the author, the subject, keywords and the programs used to make it. This tool shows these fields and lets you change them, or remove them all so the file does not reveal who made it or with what.
How to use it
- Choose the PDF; its current metadata appears in the fields.
- Change the fields you want, leave a field empty to remove it, or tick Remove all metadata.
- Click Save PDF and download the file; the pages are not changed.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my PDF show the wrong title?
Readers and browsers show the Title field, which the program that made the PDF often fills with a file name like Document1. Type the real title here; it also appears in Google results.
Can metadata reveal personal information?
Yes: the author is often your name or user account, and the creator and dates show which software you used and when. Remove all metadata before sending a file anonymously.
Does editing metadata change the pages?
No. Only the information fields change; the pages, text, images, links and forms stay exactly as they were.
