Frequently asked questions

How is Morse code written?
Each letter is a sequence of short signals (dots) and long signals (dashes). Here letters are separated by a space and words by a slash. A dash lasts three dots, and the gap between words lasts seven dots.

What is the Farnsworth speed?
A way to learn Morse: the letters are sent at full speed so you learn their sound, but the gaps between letters and words are longer, so the overall speed is lower. Set it below the main speed to use it.

What is SOS in Morse code?
Three dots, three dashes, three dots: ... --- ... It is sent as one continuous signal, without the usual gaps between letters, and it is the international distress signal.
