MP3 Cutter

Cut MP3 and other audio files online for free: select the part on the waveform, add fade in and fade out, and save it as MP3 or WAV. Nothing is uploaded.

The file is processed by your browser and is not sent anywhere: no upload, no storage.

What it does

This tool cuts a part of a song or any audio file, for example to make a ringtone, keep the chorus of a song or remove silence at the start of a recording. Select the part on the waveform or type the start and end times, listen to the selection, add a gentle fade in or fade out if you like, and save it as MP3 or WAV. Videos work too: the audio is taken from them. Everything happens in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Choose or drag the audio file (MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, FLAC) or a video.
  2. Drag on the waveform, or type the start and end, and press Play selection to check it.
  3. Choose the fades and the format, then press Cut and download.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a ringtone?
Select up to 30 seconds of the song, add a fade out of one or two seconds so it does not stop abruptly, and save it as MP3. Android phones use MP3 ringtones directly; iPhones need the file converted to M4R in GarageBand or iTunes.

Does cutting reduce the quality?
Saving as MP3 encodes the audio again, which loses a very small amount of quality, inaudible at 192 kbps or more. Saving as WAV keeps the decoded audio exactly, but the file is about ten times bigger.

How precise is the cut?
The cut is made at the exact sample, a fraction of a millisecond. Some players add up to a few hundredths of a second of silence at the start of any MP3; that is part of the MP3 format, not of the cut.

Is my audio uploaded?
No. The file is read, cut and encoded in your browser and is not sent to any server.
