Palette from Image and Colour Picker

What it does

This tool finds the main colours of a photo, logo or screenshot and shows them as a palette, with the share of the image that each one covers. It groups similar colours with the k-means method in a colour space that matches human perception, so the palette shows the colours you actually see. You can also click on any point of the image to get the exact colour of that pixel in HEX, RGB, HSL and OKLCH. The image is processed in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Choose, paste or drag an image.
  2. See the main colours and choose how many you want.
  3. Click a colour to copy its code, or click on the image to pick any pixel.

Frequently asked questions

How are the main colours chosen?
The image is reduced to about 25,000 pixels, and similar colours are grouped together; each group becomes one colour of the palette, ordered by how much of the image it covers. The same image always gives the same palette.

Why is a picked colour slightly different from what I expected?
Photos are made of pixels of slightly different colours, especially at edges and in shadows, and compressed JPEG images add small variations. Click a little inside a flat area to get its typical colour.

Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is read and analysed in your browser and is not sent to any server.
