What it does
A countdown timer that rings when the time is up. Type the hours, minutes and seconds, or pick one of the quick presets, and press Start. The end time is fixed the moment you start, and the alarm is scheduled in the browser's audio clock, so it rings on the second even if you are in another tab. The page also keeps the timer if you reload it, and can show a notification when it ends.
How to use it
- Type the time, or pick a quick start button.
- Press Start. The remaining time also appears in the tab title, so you can follow it from another tab.
- When the time is up an alarm sounds; press Reset to stop it and start again.
Frequently asked questions
Will the alarm ring if the tab is in the background?
Yes. Browsers slow down timers in background tabs, sometimes to once a minute, so the alarm is not left to a timer: the sound is scheduled in the browser's audio clock when you press Start, and that clock is not slowed down. Keep the volume up. On phones, silent mode or a locked screen can mute the browser, so keep the page open; while the timer runs the screen is kept on where the browser allows it.
What happens if I close or reload the page?
The timer is saved in this browser. Open the page again and it shows the time that is left, or that the time is up if it ended while the page was closed.
Can I set more than 60 minutes?
Yes, up to 99 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds. You can also type 90 in the minutes field: it is read as one and a half hours.
Can I get a notification instead of a sound?
Yes. Press Notify me when it ends and allow notifications: when the time is up the browser shows a notification, even if you are in another tab or program.
