Video to MP3 Converter

Convert video to MP3 online for free: extract the audio from MP4, MOV, WebM and other videos at up to 320 kbps. Runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

The file is processed by your browser and is not sent anywhere: no upload, no storage.

What it does

This tool takes the sound from a video and saves it as an MP3 file, for example to keep the music of a clip, the audio of a lecture or a voice message recorded on video. It also converts other audio files, such as M4A, WAV, OGG or FLAC, to MP3. Your browser reads the audio track, and the MP3 is created with LAME, the reference MP3 encoder, running on your own device, so the file is never uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Choose or drag the video or audio file.
  2. Pick the MP3 quality: 192 kbps is a good balance, 320 kbps is the highest.
  3. Press Convert to MP3. The file is downloaded, and you can listen to it on the page.

Frequently asked questions

Which video formats work?
Any format your browser can play: MP4 and MOV from phones and cameras, and WebM, are supported by all current browsers. Some MKV, AVI or WMV files use codecs that a given browser cannot open; in that case the page tells you.

Is my video uploaded?
No. The audio is extracted and encoded in your browser. The video never leaves your device, which also means there is no waiting for an upload.

Which MP3 quality should I choose?
128 kbps is fine for speech and podcasts, 192 kbps is good for music, and 320 kbps is the maximum MP3 quality. Higher quality means a bigger file. The MP3 cannot sound better than the audio in the original video.

Is there a length limit?
The whole audio track is held in memory while it is converted: half an hour of stereo audio takes about 600 MB. On computers, videos of up to about an hour work well; on phones, which have less memory, keep to about half an hour.
