Blur Faces in Photos

Blur or pixelate faces and any area of a photo automatically, right in your browser: faces are detected for you, and the photo is never uploaded.

πŸ”’ The photo is processed in your browser and never uploaded. The downloaded image has no location or camera metadata.

What it does

This tool hides faces and other details in a photo before you share it, such as people in the background, children, number plates or documents. Faces are detected automatically, even small ones in group photos, and each one can be blurred, pixelated or covered with a black box, in an oval or a rectangle, with adjustable strength. You can switch any box off, remove it or drag to add new areas, and download the result at full size.

How to use it

  1. Choose a photo: the faces are found automatically.
  2. Choose blur, pixelate or black box and the strength; switch boxes on or off and drag to add areas.
  3. Download the image.

Frequently asked questions

Can a blurred face be recovered?
A strong blur or pixelation makes a face very hard to recognise, but light ones can sometimes be partly reversed. For maximum safety, use the black box, which removes the information completely.

Does it find every face?
It finds most faces turned towards the camera, including small ones in group photos. Faces in profile, very small, covered or blurry may be missed, so always check the photo and drag over any face that is not marked.

Is my photo uploaded?
No. Detection and blurring happen in your browser, and the downloaded image also loses the metadata that could reveal where and with which camera the photo was taken.
