- Underbust: wrap the tape snugly around your ribcage, right under the breasts, keeping it level.
- Bust: measure loosely around the fullest part of the breasts, wearing a bra without padding.
- Stand straight with your arms down and breathe out normally before reading the tape.
What it does
A bra size has two parts: the band, which comes from the underbust measurement, and the cup, which comes from the difference between the bust and the underbust. In the European standard EN 13402 the band is the underbust rounded to 5 cm and each cup adds 2 cm of difference: 12 to 14 cm is an A, 14 to 16 cm a B, and so on. France and Spain add 15 to the band, Italy numbers the bands from 0, and the UK and US use inches. The table converts your size to each country with the equivalences brands use.
How to use it
- Measure your underbust and your bust, in cm or inches.
- Or switch to Convert a size and pick the country, band and cup you already wear.
- See your size in every country's system.
The arithmetic runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere and nothing is stored, so you can use these with real numbers.
Frequently asked questions
What is 75B in US and UK sizes?
EU 75B is 34B in the US and the UK, 90B in France and Spain, 3B in Italy, 12B in Australia and B75 in Japan. Measurements of 76 cm under the bust and 90 cm at the bust give this size.
Why do some calculators give a smaller band and a bigger cup?
Some UK fitters use the underbust in inches as the band (the "+0" method), so 76 cm (30 in) becomes a 30 band with a bigger cup letter, about 30DD instead of 34B. Older US guides added 4 inches to the band. Brands differ, so try both if the fit is off.
Is a UK DD the same as a European E?
Yes. Up to D the letters match; after that the UK uses double letters (DD, E, F, FF, G…) and Europe single ones, so UK DD = EU E, UK E = EU F and UK F = EU G.
