Net salary per month
MonthYear

What it does

This calculator shows what is left of a German gross salary after the deductions on the payslip. The wage tax, the solidarity surcharge and the church tax follow the official program (Programmablaufplan) published by the Federal Ministry of Finance for the year, so they match payroll to the cent. Social security covers health, long-term care, pension and unemployment insurance, each split with the employer and capped at the yearly contribution ceilings; mini-jobs and the transition zone for wages up to €2,000 are handled too.

How to use it

  1. Type the gross salary per month or per year and choose your tax class.
  2. Choose the federal state, children, health insurance and whether you pay church tax.
  3. Read the net salary per month and per year and each deduction.

The arithmetic runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere and nothing is stored, so you can use these with real numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Which tax class do I have?
Single people are in class I, single parents in class II. Married couples choose III/V (one high and one low income) or IV/IV (similar incomes), optionally with a factor. A second job is always taxed in class VI.

How much is church tax?
9% of the wage tax, or 8% in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, after taking child allowances into account. Only members of a church that collects it pay it.

Why do I pay more care insurance without children?
From age 23, people without children pay a 0.6% supplement on long-term care insurance. Parents with two to five children under 25 get 0.25% off per child from the second one. In Saxony the employee share is 0.5% higher.

What are the contribution ceilings in 2026?
Health and care insurance are charged on at most €5,812.50 a month (€69,750 a year); pension and unemployment insurance on at most €8,450 a month (€101,400 a year). Income above that pays no further contributions.

Is the result exact?
The wage tax, solidarity surcharge and church tax follow the official program and were checked against the Federal Ministry of Finance's own calculator. Social security uses the 2026 rates and the average additional contribution of 2.9%; type your health fund's own rate for the exact figure. Allowances entered with the tax office, company car and bonuses are not included.
