Your CGPA is the average of the semester SGPAs weighted by credits: a semester with more credits counts for more. If you do not know the credits, leave them empty and the calculator uses a simple average.

What it does

The SGPA (semester grade point average) weighs each subject’s grade points by its credits: a 4-credit subject counts twice as much as a 2-credit one. On the UGC 10-point scale O is 10, A+ 9, A 8, B+ 7, B 6, C 5, P 4 and F 0. The CGPA then averages the SGPAs of all semesters, again weighted by credits.

How to use it

  1. For SGPA, enter each subject’s credits and choose its grade (or type the grade points).
  2. For CGPA, switch to the second tab and enter the SGPA and credits of each semester.
  3. Use “Convert to percentage” to turn the result into a percentage.

The arithmetic runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere and nothing is stored, so you can use these with real numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Does an F count in the SGPA?
Yes: an F is worth zero points but its credits still count, so it pulls the average down until the subject is cleared and the new grade replaces it.

Is my university’s scale the same?
Most follow the UGC 10-point scale, but some use slightly different letters or points. If yours differs, type the grade points of each subject instead of choosing a letter.
