Compare PDF
Compare two PDF files online for free: see the words that were added, removed or changed, page by page, and the visual differences highlighted in red.
What it does
This tool finds what changed between two versions of a PDF — a contract, an invoice, a report — without uploading them. The text comparison reads the words of each file and aligns them, so it shows exactly what was removed and what was added, with the page number on each side, even when the paragraphs break in different places. The visual comparison draws each page of both files and marks in red every pixel that changed, which also catches changes in images, signatures, tables and layout.
How to use it
- Choose the original PDF and the changed one.
- Press Compare to see the words that were removed and added.
- Open the visual tab to see, page by page, what changed in red.
Frequently asked questions
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. Both files are opened and compared by your browser; nothing leaves your device, which matters for contracts and other confidential documents.
Can it compare scanned PDFs?
A scan is a picture and has no text, so use the visual comparison, or make both files searchable with OCR first and then compare the text.
Why does the visual comparison show a whole page in red?
When text moves — a line added near the top pushes everything below — every pixel after it changes. In that case the text comparison shows the real change better.
Does it compare formatting?
The text comparison looks at the words only. Changes in font, color, images or position appear in the visual comparison.
