The Peruvian sol is the official currency of Peru, subdivided into 100 céntimos. It was reintroduced in 1991, replacing the inti at a rate of 1 million intis per sol, as part of an effort to combat hyperinflation. The sol is issued by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru and is denoted by the symbol "S/".
