Lux

The lux (lx) is the SI unit of illuminance, measuring luminous flux per unit area. One lux equals one lumen per square metre. It is used to measure the intensity of light as perceived by the human eye falling on a surface. Typical office lighting is around 300–500 lux, while direct sunlight exceeds 100,000 lux.

Flame

The flame is a non-standard historical unit of illuminance approximately equal to 0.25 foot-candles, or about 2.6909 lux. It was used in early photometric work to approximate the illuminance produced by a standard candle flame at a given distance.
