Lux

The lux (lx) is the SI unit of illuminance, measuring luminous flux per unit area. One lux equals one lumen per square metre. It is used to measure the intensity of light as perceived by the human eye falling on a surface. Typical office lighting is around 300–500 lux, while direct sunlight exceeds 100,000 lux.

Meter-Candle

The meter-candle (m·cd) is an older name for the lux, the SI unit of illuminance. It represents the illuminance produced by one candle at a distance of one metre. The term is now obsolete and has been fully replaced by the lux in modern photometry.
