The Hefner candle (HK, Hefnerkerze) was a German unit of luminous intensity defined by a standard Hefner lamp burning amyl acetate. One Hefner candle equals approximately 0.9 international candelas. It was the standard photometric unit in Germany and some other European countries until the adoption of the international candela.
