The millibar (mbar) is a unit of pressure equal to one thousandth of a bar, or 100 pascals. It is widely used in meteorology to report atmospheric pressure, where standard sea-level pressure is approximately 1013.25 mbar. The millibar was introduced alongside the bar by Vilhelm Bjerknes in 1909.
Pascal
The pascal (Pa) is the SI derived unit of pressure, defined as one newton per square metre (N/m²). It was adopted by the General Conference on Weights and Measures in 1971 and named after the French mathematician and physicist Blaise Pascal. Standard atmospheric pressure is approximately 101,325 Pa, and it is widely used in science, engineering, and meteorology.
