A megawatt-hour (symbol: MW·h) is a unit of energy equal to 3.6 × 10⁹ joules (3.6 gigajoules), representing the energy delivered by one megawatt of power sustained for one hour. It is commonly used in the electricity industry to measure the consumption of large industrial facilities and the output of wind turbines and solar farms. One megawatt-hour equals 1,000 kilowatt-hours.

The joule (/dʒaʊ,dʒuːljawl, jool; symbol: J) is a derived unit of energy in the International System of Units.
