Pascal
The <b>pascal</b> (<b>Pa</b>) is the SI derived unit of pressure, defined as one <b>newton per square metre</b> (N/m²). It was adopted by the General Conference on Weights and Measures in 1971 and named after the French mathematician and physicist Blaise Pascal. Standard atmospheric pressure is approximately 101,325 <b>Pa</b>, and it is widely used in science, engineering, and meteorology.
Terapascal
The <b>terapascal</b> (symbol: TPa) is a unit of pressure equal to <b>10¹² pascals</b>, formed by applying the SI prefix <i>tera-</i> to the pascal. Pressures in this range are studied in extreme high-pressure physics, including the behaviour of materials under conditions found in planetary interiors. Diamond has a bulk modulus of roughly 0.44 TPa, giving a sense of the scale.
