Piconewton

The piconewton (pN) is a unit of force equal to 10−12 newtons. It is widely used in biophysics, single-molecule experiments, and optical tweezers studies, where the forces exerted by molecular motors, such as kinesin or myosin, are on the order of a few piconewtons. The forces holding together complementary strands of DNA have also been measured in this range. It follows the standard SI prefix "pico-" for 10−12

Newton

The newton (symbol: N) is the SI (International System of Units) derived unit of force. It is defined as 1 kilogram·meter/second2
