The metric ton-force (tf), also called the tonne-force, is a unit of force equal to the gravitational weight of one metric ton (1,000 kilograms) under standard gravity, exactly 9806.65 newtons or approximately 9.807 kilonewtons. It is widely used in continental European engineering and in international contexts where SI-compatible but non-SI force units are preferred. One metric ton-force equals approximately 2204.62 pounds-force. It is numerically close to but distinct from the kilonewton.
