Kilooctet (SI)

La kilobyte (kB), dans le SI decimal convention, est égal à exactement 1,000 bytes (10³ bytes). This definition is used by hard drive manufacturers, telecommunications standards, and the Système international d'unités (SI), distinguishing it from the binary kibibyte (KiB) of 1,024 bytes. The decimal kilobyte is the standard for data transfer rates and storage marketing.

Bit

A bit (binary digit) is the most basic unit of digital information, representing a logical state with one of two possible values: 0 or 1. The term was coined by statistician John Tukey in 1946 and popularized by Claude Shannon in his foundational work on information theory. Eight bits form one byte, the standard unit of computer storage.
