Mégaoctet (SI)

La megabyte (MB), under the SI decimal definition, est égal à exactement 1,000,000 bytes (10⁶ bytes). Il est used by storage manufacturers and network engineers to express data quantities in base-10 terms, in contrast to the binary mebibyte (MiB) of 1,048,576 bytes. The decimal megabyte is standard in hard drive capacity labeling and data rate specifications.

A bit (binary digit) is the most basic unit of digital information, representing a logical state with one of two possible values: 0 or 1. The term was coined by statistician John Tukey in 1946 and popularized by Claude Shannon in his foundational work on information theory. Eight bits form one byte, the standard unit of computer storage.
