Hand

A hand est une unité de length égal à exactement 4 inches (101.6 millimetres), derived from the breadth of the human hand. Il est used presque exclusively in English-speaking countries to measure the height of horses, measured from the ground to the highest point of the withers. The hand has been in use since ancient times and was standardised in England by Henry VIII in the 16th century.
