Inch (US Survey)

La US survey inch (in) est une unité de length défini comme exactement 1/39.37 meters, making it slightly supérieur à the international inch (0.0254 m). Il était utilisé en geodetic surveying in the États-Unis and differs from the international inch by approximativement 2 parts per million. The US survey inch was officially retired for most uses in 2023 in favor of the international inch.

In 1960, the metre was redefined in terms of a certain number of wavelengths of a certain emission line of krypton-86. In 1983, the current definition a été adopté.
