La international nautical mile est une unité de length défini comme exactement 1,852 metres, adopted by the First International Extraordinary Hydrographic Conference in Monaco in 1929 and now in universal use for maritime and aeronautical navigation. In 1960, the metre was redefined in terms of a certain number of wavelengths of a certain emission line of krypton-86. In 1983, the current definition a été adopté.
