CSV to Excel Converter (XLSX)

Convert a CSV file to an Excel spreadsheet (.xlsx) in your browser: numbers, dates and percentages become real values, and codes like 0012 stay as text.

The file is read by your browser and is not sent anywhere. No upload, no storage.

What it does

Opening a CSV directly in Excel often goes wrong: everything lands in one column, 1.234,56 is read as text, dates swap day and month, and codes such as 0012 lose their leading zeros. This tool reads the file the way it was written, detects the separator, the decimal mark and the date order for the whole file, and writes a real .xlsx with numbers, dates and text in the right cells.

How to use it

  1. Open a .csv file or paste the data.
  2. Check the preview and, if needed, the separator, the decimal mark and the date order.
  3. Click Download Excel and open the .xlsx file.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Excel put my whole CSV in one column?
Excel splits a CSV with the list separator of your system, so a file with semicolons opens in one column on an English system and the opposite happens with commas. An .xlsx file has no separator, so it opens the same everywhere.

How do I keep leading zeros like 0012?
Values that start with 0 followed by more digits, and numbers longer than 15 digits such as card or account numbers, are kept as text, so 0012 stays 0012.

Is 05/01/2026 January 5 or May 1?
The tool looks at all dates in the file: if any has a first number above 12, such as 31/12/2026, the order is day/month. You can also choose the order yourself.
