Nanonewton

The nanonewton (nN) is a unit of force equal to one billionth of a newton (10−9 N). It is commonly encountered in atomic force microscopy (AFM), molecular biology, and nanotechnology, where forces at the cellular and molecular scale are measured. The forces involved in stretching a single DNA molecule or manipulating individual proteins are often expressed in nanonewtons. It follows the standard SI prefix "nano-" for 10−9
