Newton

The newton (symbol: N) is the SI unit of force, named after Sir Isaac Newton. One newton is the force needed to accelerate a mass of one kilogram at one metre per second squared (1 N = 1 kg·m/s²). Roughly the weight of a small (100 g) apple under standard gravity, it is the base unit used throughout physics and engineering to express force, weight and thrust. 


Teranewton

The teranewton (TN) is a unit of force equal to 10¹² newtons, formed by applying the SI tera- prefix to the newton. It is used in geophysics and aerospace engineering to describe large-scale structural and gravitational forces. One teranewton equals 10¹² newtons.
