What it does

This calculator converts the same pay between hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and annual amounts, using your own working hours. Everything goes through the annual total: an hourly rate times the hours per week times the paid weeks per year gives the annual pay, and the monthly pay is the annual divided by 12. The amounts are gross, before taxes and deductions.

How to use it

  1. Type the amount you know and choose the period: per hour, day, week, month or year.
  2. Adjust the hours per week, days per week and paid weeks per year to your contract.
  3. Read the equivalent pay for every other period.

The arithmetic runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere and nothing is stored, so you can use these with real numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Why isn't the monthly salary the weekly salary times 4?
Because a year has 52 weeks, not 48. Four weeks a month leaves out four weeks a year. The correct monthly figure is the annual pay divided by 12, which is the weekly pay times 4.33.

How many working hours are there in a month?
On average, the hours per week times 52 divided by 12. With 40 hours a week that is 173.33 hours a month; with 44 hours it is 190.67. Some labour laws use a fixed divisor for overtime, such as 220 hours in Brazil, which gives a different hourly rate.

Is the result gross or net?
Gross. Income tax, social security and other deductions depend on the country and on personal circumstances, and are not included.

How do I account for unpaid holidays?
Reduce the paid weeks per year. If you work 48 weeks and the 4 weeks off are unpaid, use 48: the annual pay falls and the monthly average falls with it.
