Sign PDF

Free tool to sign a PDF in your browser. Draw your signature, type it or use a photo of it, then place it on any page. Nothing is uploaded, so the document never leaves your device.

The file is read by your browser and is not sent anywhere. No upload, no storage.

What it does

This tool adds your signature to a PDF as an image, exactly where you place it, the way you would sign a printed page. You draw it, type it in a handwriting style or use a photo of it; the page is shown so you can see where it goes, and the document is changed in place, so the rest of it, including bookmarks and form fields, stays as it was. It is important to know what this is not: it is not a digital signature with a certificate, such as ICP-Brasil in Brazil or a qualified signature in the European Union, which proves cryptographically who signed and that nothing changed afterwards. For contracts and documents that require that, use a certified service; for forms, authorisations and everyday paperwork, a visual signature like this is what is usually asked for.

How to use it

  1. Choose a PDF from your device. It is read in the browser and goes no further.
  2. Create your signature: draw it, type it or choose an image.
  3. Add it to the pages, drag it into place and download the signed file.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a legally valid signature?
It is a visual electronic signature: a picture of your signature on the document. Many forms, authorisations and everyday documents accept that. It is not a qualified or certificate-based digital signature (ICP-Brasil, eIDAS qualified), which proves who signed and that the file was not altered; when a document requires one, it has to come from a certified provider.

Is my signature stored anywhere?
No. It is created in your browser and exists only while the page is open. Nothing is sent to our server and nothing is saved, so next time you draw or type it again.

Can I sign several pages at once?
Yes. Go to each page and add the signature; each one can be moved and resized on its own. Initials on every page and a full signature on the last one is a common combination.

My signature photo has a grey background. What can I do?
Keep "Remove the white background" on and use a photo taken in good light, on white paper, with dark ink. The tool turns the near-white paper transparent and keeps the ink; a dark or uneven background is harder to separate, so a scan works better than a photo in poor light.

Can I sign a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. A protected file has to be unlocked before it can be changed, and doing that here would mean asking for the password, which a page that promises not to upload anything should not be asking for. This includes files that open without a password but restrict editing, as many bank statements do. Remove the protection in your PDF reader first.
