The newton-metre (also newton metre; symbol N⋅m or N m) is a unit of torque (also called moment) in the SI system. One newton-metre is equal to the torque resulting from a force of one newton applied perpendicularly to the end of a moment arm that is one metre long. The nonstandard notation Nm occurs in some fields.

The newton centimetre (N·cm) is a unit of torque equal to one hundredth of a newton metre (0.01 N·m). It is commonly used in precision engineering, small electric motors, and robotics where torque values are too small to express conveniently in full newton metres. One newton centimetre equals 10 newton millimetres.
