The cycle प्रति सेकंड is a historical आवृत्ति की मात्रक, now replaced by the hertz. One cycle प्रति सेकंड equals one hertz exactly. The term was widely used before the hertz was adopted as the SI आवृत्ति की मात्रक in 1960, and is still occasionally encountered in older literature.
