मील (Roman)
The Roman mile (mille passuum, meaning "a thousand paces") was an ancient लंबाई की मात्रक के बराबर 1,000 double paces (passus), or लगभग 1,480 metres. It served as the standard long-distance measurement throughout the Roman Empire and was the direct ancestor of most subsequent European miles. Roman road markers called milestones (milliaria) were placed at each Roman mile, a practice that influenced later road measurement traditions.
