The Brunei Dollar (sign: $; code: BND) is the official currency of Brunei, a sovereign state on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia, issued by the Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam. Introduced in 1967 when Brunei separated its currency from Malaysia and Singapore, the Brunei dollar remains interchangeable at par with the Singapore dollar under the Currency Interchangeability Agreement of 1967. Brunei's economy is heavily reliant on oil and natural gas revenues.
