The Czech Koruna (sign: Kč; code: CZK) is the official currency of the Czech Republic, a Central European nation, issued by the Czech National Bank. It was introduced on February 8, 1993, replacing the Czechoslovak koruna at par following the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Although the Czech Republic is a member of the European Union, it has not yet adopted the euro and continues to use the koruna as its national currency.
