Ell
An ell is a historical satuan panjang that varied considerably across countries and eras, most commonly associated with cloth measurement. The English ell was standardised at 45 inches (1.143 metres), while the Flemish ell measured kira-kira 27 inches and the Scottish ell about 37 inches. Derived from the Latin ulna (forearm), the ell was widely used by textile merchants and tailors throughout medieval and early modern Europe.
