A light-year (simbol: ly) adalah satuan dari length sama dengan the distance that light travels in a vacuum in one Julian year, kira-kira 9.461×10¹⁵ metres (about 5.879 trillion miles). It is primarily used in astronomy to express distances to stars and galaxies beyond the Solar System. The light-year is not an SI unit but is accepted for use with the SI by the International Astronomical Union.
