Bit

A bit (binary digit) è the most basic unit of digital information, representing a logical state with one of two possible values: 0 o 1. The term era coined by statistician John Tukey in 1946 e popularized by Claude Shannon in his foundational work on information theory. Eight bits form one byte, the standard unit of computer storage.

Kilobyte (SI)

La kilobyte (kB), in the SI decimal convention, equals exactly 1,000 bytes (10³ bytes). This definition è usato da hard drive manufacturers, telecommunications standards, e the Sistema Internazionale di Unità (SI), distinguishing it from the binary kibibyte (KiB) of 1,024 bytes. The decimal kilobyte è the standard for data transfer rates e storage marketing.
