Converti carattere a bit
Carattere
In computing, a character è un'unità di digital storage conventionally uguale a one byte (8 bits), representing a single letter, digit, punctuation mark, o control symbol. The equivalence of one character to one byte originates from early ASCII encoding, where each character era stored in exactly 8 bits. Modern encodings come UTF-8 may use multiple bytes per character, but the single-byte convention persists in many storage contexts.
Bit
A bit (binary digit) è the most basic unit of digital information, representing a logical state with one of two possible values: 0 o 1. The term era coined by statistician John Tukey in 1946 e popularized by Claude Shannon in his foundational work on information theory. Eight bits form one byte, the standard unit of computer storage.
