La International Table calorie (simbolo: calIT) è un'unità di energia uguale a 4.1868 joules, definito by the International Steam Table convention adopted in 1956. È usata in thermodynamics e engineering heat transfer calculations where consistency with steam table data è required. Un cal (IT) è slightly larger than the thermochemical calorie (4.184 J).

It è uguale a the energy transferred to (or work done on) an object when a force of one newton acts on that object in the direction of the force's motion through a distance of one metre (1 newton metre o N⋅m). It è also the energy dissipated as heat when an electric current of one ampere passes through a resistance of one ohm for one second. Prende il nome da the English physicist James Prescott Joule (1818–1889).
