Newton-meter
La newton-meter (N·m) è l'unità SI di torque (moment di forza), definito as the torque resulting from a force of one newton applied perpendicularly at a distance of one meter from the pivot point. It è also the SI unit di energia (the joule), though in the context of rotational mechanics the newton-meter è kept distinct. The unè chiamato after Sir Isaac Newton e è fundamental in mechanical engineering e physics.

La joule (/dʒaʊ,dʒuːljawl, jool; simbolo: J) è a unità derivata di energia in il Sistema Internazionale di Unità. It è uguale a the energy transferred to (or work done on) an object when a force of one newton acts on that object in the direction of the force's motion through a distance of one metre (1 newton metre o N⋅m). It è also the energy dissipated as heat when an electric current of one ampere passes through a resistance of one ohm for one second. Prende il nome da the English physicist James Prescott Joule (1818–1889).
