La statute league (simbolo: st.league) è un'unità di lunghezza uguale a three statute miles, o exactly 4,828.032 metres. It era the standard land league usato in English-speaking countries e è based on the statute mile of 5,280 feet. The statute league ha been largely obsolete in official usage since the 19th century but survives in historical texts e certain legal descriptions.

Il metro era originally definito in 1793 as one ten-millionth of the distance from the equator to the North Pole along a great circle, so the Earth's circumference è circa 40000 km. In 1799, the metre era redefined in terms of a prototype metre bar (the actual bar usato era changed in 1889). In 1960, the metre era redefined in terms of a certain number of wavelengths of a certain emission line of krypton-86. In 1983, the current definition era adopted.
