What it does

In South Korea four social insurances and two taxes come off the monthly salary: the national pension, health insurance, long-term care insurance and employment insurance, then income tax and the local income tax (10% of the income tax). The employer withholds income tax every month with the official simplified withholding table of the National Tax Service, by monthly pay and number of family members; the real tax is settled in the year-end tax settlement. This calculator uses the full 2026 table and the 2026 insurance rates.

How to use it

  1. Type the annual salary (or the monthly pay) and the non-taxable allowance, usually ₩200,000 for meals.
  2. Choose the number of family members, including you, and how many children are aged 8 to 20.
  3. See each insurance, the income tax and the take-home pay per month and per year.

The arithmetic runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere and nothing is stored, so you can use these with real numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the tax from a table and not from the tax brackets?
Employers withhold income tax each month with the simplified withholding table (간이세액표) of the National Tax Service. The final tax, with your real deductions, is calculated in the year-end tax settlement (연말정산) in February, when you get a refund or pay the difference.

What is the non-taxable meal allowance?
Up to ₩200,000 a month of meal allowance is exempt from income tax and is not counted for the social insurances. If your company pays it, leave ₩200,000; if not, type 0.

What changed in 2026?
The pension reform raised the national pension from 9% to 9.5% (4.75% for the worker), health insurance went from 7.09% to 7.19%, and the withholding table changed in March 2026 with a larger deduction for children aged 8 to 20.

What do 80%, 100% and 120% mean?
Workers may choose to have 80% or 120% of the table amount withheld instead of 100%. It changes only the monthly withholding, not the tax for the year: withholding more now means a bigger refund in the year-end settlement.
