The picometre (SI symbol: pm) is a unit of length equal to one trillionth of a metre (1×10⁻¹² m), derived from the SI base unit metre using the prefix pico-. In 1960, the metre was redefined in terms of a certain number of wavelengths of a certain emission line of krypton-86. In 1983, the current definition was adopted.
