Markdown Editor
Write Markdown on the left and see the formatted result on the right as you type. The toolbar inserts the syntax for you, and the draft is saved in this browser so you can come back later.
What it does
Markdown is a simple way to format text with plain characters: # for headings, ** for bold, - for lists. It is used on GitHub, Reddit, Discord, Notion, Obsidian, in README files and in the answers of AI chatbots. These tools follow CommonMark, the standard Markdown specification, plus the GitHub extensions: tables, task lists, strikethrough and automatic links.
How to use it
- Type Markdown in the editor, use the toolbar or open a .md file.
- Check the preview as you type; the draft is saved in this browser.
- Download the .md file or export it to HTML, PDF or Word.
Frequently asked questions
Is my text sent to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so private notes, documentation and drafts never leave your device.
Which Markdown syntax is supported?
All of CommonMark (headings, emphasis, lists, quotes, code, links, images, HTML) plus GitHub Flavored Markdown tables, task lists with [ ] and [x], strikethrough with ~~ and links that start with https://.
Where is my draft saved?
In this browser's local storage, on this device only. It is not shared with other devices or other people; clearing the site data deletes it, so download a .md file to keep a copy.
