Bhutanese Ngultrum

The Bhutanese Ngultrum (sign: Nu; code: BTN) is the official currency of Bhutan, a landlocked kingdom in the Eastern Himalayas, issued by the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan. Introduced in 1974 to replace the Indian rupee as the sole legal tender, the ngultrum is pegged to the Indian rupee at a 1:1 ratio, and Indian rupees continue to be accepted throughout Bhutan. The word "ngultrum" means "silver coin" in Dzongkha, Bhutan's official language.
