Excel to CSV Converter

Convert an Excel spreadsheet (.xlsx) to CSV in your browser: choose the sheet, keep values as Excel shows them or raw, pick the separator, or get every sheet.

The file is read by your browser and is not sent anywhere. No upload, no storage.

What it does

CSV is the plain-text format that databases, mail merge, accounting software and most import screens accept. This tool reads the .xlsx file in your browser and writes one sheet as CSV, from cell A1 to the last cell with a value. Numbers and dates can be written as Excel displays them, with your formats, or as raw values that other programs read without ambiguity.

How to use it

  1. Choose the .xlsx file.
  2. Pick the sheet, how values are written and the separator, and check the preview.
  3. Download the CSV, or all sheets in a ZIP file.

Frequently asked questions

Which separator should I choose?
Use a comma for most programs and English-language systems, and a semicolon if the file will be opened by Excel on a system that uses a decimal comma, such as in Brazil or Germany.

Are formulas kept?
A CSV holds values only, so each formula is written as the last result Excel saved in the file, the same as when you save as CSV in Excel.

Why do accents look wrong when I open the CSV?
The CSV is written in UTF-8. Older Excel versions only read it correctly when the file starts with a BOM, so keep that option ticked if you will open it in Excel.
