Kilopond

The kilopond (kp), also called kilogram-force (kgf), is a unit of force equal to the gravitational force acting on a mass of one kilogram at standard gravity (9.80665 m/s²). It was widely used in European engineering and physics before the adoption of the SI newton, and the name "kilopond" remains in use in some German-language technical fields. One kilopond equals exactly 9.80665 newtons.

Newton

The newton (symbol: N) is the SI unit of force, named after Sir Isaac Newton. One newton is the force needed to accelerate a mass of one kilogram at one metre per second squared (1 N = 1 kgĀ·m/s²). Roughly the weight of a small (100 g) apple under standard gravity, it is the base unit used throughout physics and engineering to express force, weight and thrust.
