The centiwatt (cW) is a unit of power equal to one hundredth of a watt (10−2 W), using the SI prefix centi-. Like the deciwatt, it is seldom used in practice, with milliwatts being preferred for this power range in electronics and telecommunications. Some low-power laser diodes and wireless communication transmitters operate at output levels in the centiwatt range.
