Reaction Time Test
Click the box to start, wait for it to turn from red to green, and click again as fast as you can. Each round has five tries, and the page shows your average, your median and your best time, and remembers your record on this device.
How to use it
- Click the blue box or press the space bar.
- Wait for green; clicking while it is red counts as too soon.
- Do five tries and look at the median, which ignores one lucky or distracted try.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good reaction time?
Most people get between 200 and 300 milliseconds in a test like this. Results under 200 ms are fast; trained gamers and athletes often reach 150 to 180 ms.
Does my device change the result?
Yes. The screen, the mouse or touchscreen and the browser add their own delay, often 20 to 50 ms. Compare results on the same device; a fast monitor and a wired mouse give lower times.
Why can I not guess when it turns green?
The wait is random, between 1.5 and 5 seconds, so the test measures your reaction and not your timing. Clicking before the green is not counted.
